Sonic Crackers: Lost Data
Audio samples
One of the most intriguing things about Sonic Crackers is some of the unused audio clips that were discovered in the game. To get these clips out, you can find the entire Sample list at $63D8 inside the ROM, more information on this is avaliable in this topic on the forums. Don't worry if this sounds too technical! Stealth did the work for us by extracting every DAC sample game uses: crackerssamples.zip
DAC86.WAV: "Let's go"
While this at first may sound nothing like "Let's Go", Quickman explained how this oddly sounding version was created:
Quickman In case anybody is confused (as Jim initially was) by the sound of the "Let's go" sound, the explanation I put forward is this is due to it being read by a Japanese speaker, not a native English speaker. In Japanese the English word "let's" would be rendered as レツ (retsu). Each character is one mora in katakana, so the Japanese gives equal time to the ツ (tsu) as to the レ (re) even though the vowel sound is "missing" (very softly spoken) for the ツ (tsu).
The sound itself isn't actually used within the game, though you can fool the DAC into playing it by editing the rom.
DAC87.WAV: "Hey!"
This clip is pretty self-explanatory. One thing to note is the voice used in these clips sounds very different to the one used for Sonic in Sonic CD. My guess is they were just trying stuff out.

| Topic and sprites | Description |
Sonic diving
While it has been theorized that this would be used for when Sonic hits a spring, it this pose isn't used in either Crackers or Chaotix so we can't know for sure.
| |
Sonic Holding
The sprites for the "Hold" command in Sonic Chaotix. However the code hasn't been implemented in Crackers.
| |
Sonic ledge animations
Sonic is performing some interesting stunts, which look like he's lifting himself up over a ledge. What gameplay element could this have been planned for?
| |
Sonic throwing animation
You would assume that this might be for when Sonic throws Tails, but once again, the animation hasn't been implamented.
| |
Sonic wallgrab
The "wallgrab" move, which Mighty does in Chaotix.
| |
Tails flying
Now this I find interesting. The Sonic sprites are from Sonic 1, yet the tails sprites are taken from the earlier-in-the-year released Sonic 3, because they feature the "Tired" animation.
| |
Tails Holding
Tails' version of the "Hold" sprite.
| |
Tails Hanging
Unlike the Sonic version, Tails only has the one hanging sprite. Tails clearly isn't as acrobatic as Sonic!
| |
Tails Throwing
Tails' version of the "Throwing" sprite.
| |
Sonic & Tails jumping - Field stages
Sonic and Tails can't jump in the field stages, though the sprites are in the ROM.

| |
End of act title cards
End of act title card text, which you never get to see because the levels go on indefinitely.
| |
Unused Words
Various unused words in the game.
| |
Sparkles
Various sparkles, to me they seem similar to the sparkles used on the multi-coloured band that connects the characters in Chaotix. At the end of the first row we can however see the used ring sparkle.

| |
Orbs
Generic twinkling sprite, could be from anything.
